Draft for review. This text has not yet been checked by a lawyer.
These Terms of Use apply to Project Hermes, a real-world fitness game played on foot in Singapore, including the app and the website at projecthermes.dev. In these Terms, we and us mean the Project Hermes team.
By creating an account or playing, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy notice. If you do not agree, please do not use the game.
You must be at least 16 years old. You tell us your birth month and year when you create your account. We use it once to check your age and do not keep it. We keep only a note that your age was confirmed.
If you give a false age, we may close your account. If we learn that someone under 16 has an account, we will delete it.
You sign in with Google or Apple. You must keep your sign-in secure. One person may have one account. Do not share, sell or transfer your account.
You can delete your account and data at any time from the Profile screen (Profile, Delete account). We may warn, suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms.
This is a game played outdoors, on foot, in real places. You are responsible for your own safety and for the people around you. Nothing in the game, including the map, the circle, the items and the storm, tells you that a place is safe, open or allowed. Always check for yourself.
Manhunt is a game mode where players are split into hunters and prey. Hunters chase and prey try to stay in the game until the timer ends. You pick your role in the lobby, and the host can move you.
Running and walking outdoors carry risks, including falls, collisions, traffic, heat illness and weather. You take part at your own risk. You are responsible for what you do while playing and for keeping to the law and to the rules of the places you are in.
Do not fake or change your location, use a mock-location app, or use any tool that gives you an unfair advantage. Do not share your account or create several accounts to gain an advantage. Do not use cheats, bots, automated clients or bugs to your advantage, and please report bugs to us.
The game checks how fast you move. Moving faster than a running pace, for example in a vehicle, is treated as a rule break. We may remove players and matches that break these rules.
Choose a display name that is not offensive and does not impersonate anyone. Be respectful to other players. Do not harass, threaten or abuse anyone, and do not share the personal details of other people.
Rooms are private. Share your room code only with people you know.
The game needs your live location to work, and you must allow location access to play. You can switch it off in your phone settings, but then you cannot play. How we use your location and other data is explained in the Privacy notice.
The game is provided as it is. It is in beta, so it may change, have faults, be unavailable or be reset. GPS can be wrong, and the game may not always show your position, the circle or other players correctly. We may change, pause or end the game, or a match, at any time.
The game, the app, the design and the code belong to us or to those who license them to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable permission to use the app to play the game. Do not copy it, take it apart, or build tools that connect to our servers without our written permission.
Map data is from OpenStreetMap contributors and OpenMapTiles and is used under their licences. When you choose a display name, you allow us to show it to other players in your room.
We may remove you from a match, suspend your account or close it if you break these Terms, put others at risk, or cheat. You can stop playing at any time and delete your account.
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for loss, damage or injury that comes from how or where you play, from the actions of other players, from wrong or missing GPS or map information, or from the game being faulty or unavailable.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability or right that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
We may change these Terms. If a change is important, we will ask you to accept the new version before you play again. If you do not accept it, you can delete your account.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you have a problem, please write to us first and we will try to sort it out: projecthermesyt@gmail.com.
